- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- Vegetable oil for spraying
Instructions
- Cook elbow macaroni according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour for about 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
- Gradually add milk while whisking until smooth; mix in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Simmer mixture for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened. Stir in cheeses until melted, then fold in cooked macaroni.
- Allow mixture to cool for 15–20 minutes before forming balls with your hands.
- In shallow dishes, beat the egg and combine breadcrumbs. Coat each ball first in egg then breadcrumbs.
- Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Spray each ball lightly with vegetable oil and arrange in a single layer in the basket.
- Cook for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown.
