  • 3 tablespoons gluten-free breadcrumbs
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon oil (avocado or other)
  • 1/3 cup low sodium tamari or soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 23 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 4 tablespoons water (divided)

Instructions

  2. Drain and press the tofu to remove excess moisture. Cut it into 1-inch cubes and toss with tamari or soy sauce.
  3. Coat the tofu with corn starch and gluten-free breadcrumbs until evenly covered.
  4. Spread the coated tofu on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
  5. In the last ten minutes of baking, sauté minced garlic in oil over medium heat until lightly browned.
  6. Add remaining soy sauce, honey/maple syrup, rice vinegar, and toasted sesame oil to the pan.
  7. Whisk together corn starch and water in a bowl; add to the pan and heat until bubbling and thickened.
  8. Toss baked tofu in the sauce before serving.
