Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the lemon zest and juice until fully combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients alternately with the milk.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. While baking, mix powdered sugar and lemon juice for the glaze until smooth.
  8. Once baked, cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Drizzle glaze over the warm cake.
